Our mission
is to provide a Christian welcome to all and act as a witness to Christ in the local community.

Our Work
Much of the mission of the Methodist Church is done through Ambleside Parish Centre, a charitable company limited by guarantee.  The Centre opened in July 2006 and is jointly owned by St Mary’s Parish Church and Ambleside Methodist Church, and managed by them with additional representation from local community groups.
Our Place, our youth group, meets on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings with professional leadership.  On Wednesday afternoons Evergreen caters for the over-50s, on Thursdays there is  is an informal meeting for companionship called “Men (not in) sheds”. The Counselling Service has dedicated rooms, with a Christian team providing free help to those in need, and is funded by Methodist sources.  All Together Now is linked with Learning Plus for the benefit of the local international community providing companionship, advice and support, and assistance in improving written and spoken English.  The Citizens’ Advice Bureau and the Windermere Food Bank (for which we are both a collection and a distribution point) are present each week.  There is a monthly small Bereavement Group for the confidential sharing of experiences of those who have been bereaved. In co-operation with the police, a local Councillor, and other organisations we are looking to find the means to support local homeless and itinerant rough sleepers.
We provide facilities for Lake District Summer Music, Ambleside Art Society, and a dedicated room for a private Chiropody Service.  There are many organisations which make use of our rooms on a regular basis.
